Date: Thursday, 07 February 2019 - Sunday, 17 February 2019

After last year’s huge success, Insólito, Peru’s only film festival entirely dedicated to the horror and fantasy genre, is back in its 2nd edition this February.

Sponsored by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, DAFO and the National Library and organized by El ultimo Cine Club, Jungle and Diva Productions, the Horror and Fantasy Film Festival in Lima presents more than 50 short films and movies which compete in five categories: international, Latin America, national, international short film and fantasy without rules (section dedicated to experimental and avant-garde films that uses the elements of the genre as a starting point to explore new aesthetic and technical possibilities that the seventh art can offer).

Additionally, the International Horror and Fantasy Film Festival in Lima 2019 presents for the first time in Peru “The House Jack Built” by controversial Danish director Lars Von Trier, a film that caused a stir during its premiere at the last Cannes Festival and whose subversive spirit goes hand in hand with the objectives of Insólito.

Furthermore, a number of national and international figures of the horror and fantasy scene including Chilean directors Ernesto Díaz Espinoza and Inti Carrizo-Ortiz as well as director Lalo Parra from Ayacucho (the three will give a talk at the National Library) will be present at the festival.

Below film screenings are held at the Sala Armando Robles Godoy at the Culture Ministry. They are public and free of charge. Entrance on a first come, first served basis (capacity of the Sala Armando Robles Godoy is 94 persons).

The inauguration gala is held at the Teatro Auditorio Mario Vargas Llosa de la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú in San Borja.

As soon as the organizers publish a more detailed program, we will update below schedule.
