The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights is the institution of the Peruvian Government in charge of advising the President of Peru in judicial and human rights matters as well as guaranteeing access to an inclusive, transparent, reliable and modern justice to all Peruvians.
Other functions include:
- to promote respect and protection of human rights
- to provide timely and efficient legal advice and defense of the interests of the State
- to fight corruption
- to promote a civic culture of respect for legality and the consolidation of the rule of law
- to guarantee legal security
- to strengthen criminal policies and the penitentiary system in an effort to reduce delinquency and organized crime
- to promote the social reintegration of adolescents in conflict with the law
