Date: Sunday, 22 September 2019

The Peruvian-Chinese Association in Lima invites to the “Festival de la Luna”, one of the three most important celebrations of the Chinese lunar calendar.

The Moon Festival, also known as Mid-Autumn Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated mostly in China, Korea and Vietnam. The celebrations take place on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night. The coming together of family and friends, giving thanks for a good harvest and for a harmonious family union, and “praying” for a good future are the initial reasons for the festivities.

The tradition to celebrate the Moon Festival came to Peru with the numerous Chinese immigrants and today is kept alive in the Peruvian capital by the Peruvian-Japanese Association.

Expect a day spend with family and friends, lots of entertainment not only for the kids (jumping castles, face painting, board games, gymkana, an adventure circuit, origami, photos in front of Chinese attractions and much more), folkloric dances, a Jazz band, the famous Chinese lion and dragon dance and to end the day spectacular fireworks.
