    Hi Eva,

Do you have any information about the process of obtaining Peruvian nationality by working in Peru? The only reliable source I can find is this website: https://www.gob.pe/12580-solicitar-la-nacionalidad-peruana-por-naturalizacion. However, I need more information about it.

I have seen somewhere that I must legally reside in the national territory for at least three consecutive years. I plan to apply for nationality while holding a work visa, and I need to know what my responsibilities will be if I hold two nationalities at once.
    Thanks.

      Hello Dessy,

the nationality law and the corresponding article on the government website you linked clearly states that you must be living legally in Peru for at least two (2) consecutive years (not 3).

Be aware that applying for the Peruvian nationality is a long and frustrating process, which can take anything between 6 and 12 months or even longer. Just recently someone told me it took him 4 months only to have all the necessary paperwork accepted.

Anyway, what more information do you need exactly? And I'm not sure what you mean by your responsibilities when you have two nationalities. First you should check if your home country allows dual nationality. If so and if you can fulfill the requirements, which are listed on the government website (but as usual in Peru Migraciones has the right to ask for other documents as well) you can apply for the Peruvian nationality. Once approved you have the right to get a Peruvian DNI and Peruvian passport. In Peru you are then considered a Peruvian with the same rights and obligations as every other Peruvian. What this means in your home country, I don't know.

      Greetings
      Eva
