The Peru Rail company reported that from this Wednesday, February 8, train operations between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu will partially resume.
The company confirmed this announcement through a statement, after having been paralyzed by the conflicts originated in Machu Picchu because of the early elections.
“Having received the notification from the concessionaire today, February 6, informing about the partial opening of railway operations between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu, Peru Rail has arranged the operation of its mixed trains (local & tourist cars) on Wednesdays and Sundays, as from this February 8.”
The services will be restricted, and they have enabled only four schedules to leave Ollantaytambo and another four from Machu Picchu.
These are the currently available train schedules
- The departures from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu are at 05:50 and 19:04 hours.
- The departures from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo are at 08:53 and 21:50 hours
