Coin Front & Back

The 15th coin of the Wealth & Pride series, the "Tunanmarca" coin, has been put into circulation on the 26th of November 2013. The front depicts an image of the pre-Inca archaeological complex of Tunanmarca, located 3800m up in Peru's Andean highlands near the town of Jauja and the Tragadero and Paca lagoon in the Junin region.

The antique city is considered to have been the capital of the Wanka culture and was populated between 1200 AD and 1400 AD. The site features 430 circular stone constructions that are organized in groups around a central area and protected by walls. The city was divided by a central avenue and had a complex water management system with channels and underground pipes providing water to the entire population, an estimated 20,000 people.
